Official Website to Start the Process

First of all, visit the official website:

Log in using your mobile number and OTP.

Which Form Is Required for Address Transfer or Correction?

For both:

  • Voter ID address transfer
  • Correction in existing voter details

You must fill Form 8.

  • Serial number
  • Name and personal details

Click OK to continue.

Understanding the Four Options in Form 8

Option 1: Shifting of Residence

Choose this option if:

  • You are moving from one village to another
  • You are moving within the same district
  • You are moving to a different district or assembly constituency

Your name, date of birth, and relative’s name remain the same.
Only your address changes.

Example:

  • From Cooch Behar village to another village
  • From Cooch Behar to Purulia

👉 Select Shifting of Residence

Option 2: Correction of Entries in Existing Electoral Roll

Choose this option if:

  • There is a spelling mistake in your name or village
  • Wrong village name printed
  • Minor factual errors

Example:

  • Actual village name: Bataspur
  • Printed village name: Baruipur

👉 Select Correction, not shifting.

Important Rule for Married Women

Married women cannot change everything at once.

Step 1: Address Shift

  • First, apply for Shifting of Residence
  • Keep maiden surname
  • Keep father’s name as relative name

Step 2: Correction

After the shift is approved:

  • Fill Form 8 again
  • Change:
    • Surname
    • Relative name (husband’s name)

⚠️ Doing both together in one form is not allowed.

Same Assembly or Different Assembly?

You will be asked:

  • Same Assembly Constituency
  • Different Assembly Constituency

✔ If different, select Outside Assembly Constituency
✔ Then choose:

  • State
  • District
  • New Assembly Constituency

Verification Process (Mandatory)

Online submission alone is not enough.

Verification may happen via:

  • BLO home visit

  • BDO office

You must be physically present with:

  • Original documents
  • Aadhaar and Voter ID names must match

⚠️ If names don’t match, e-Sign will fail.
