Important Changes in RPF Constable Recruitment

Before discussing the notification, it is important to understand the major changes introduced in RPF Constable recruitment.

Note: There is no confirmed update yet regarding changes in the SI (Sub-Inspector) post.

1. Age Limit Change

• Earlier: 18 to 25 years

• Now: 18 to 23 years

This age limit is now the same as CAPF forces (SSC GD).

2. Height Criteria Change

• Earlier (Male): 165 cm

• Now (Male): 170 cm

• Female: 157 cm

These changes have affected many candidates whose dream of joining RPF has now become difficult due to age or height restrictions.

Unfortunately, there is very little chance that these criteria will be relaxed again.

Change in Recruitment Authority (Very Important)

Earlier:

• Notification & written exam conducted by RRB

• Physical & medical tests conducted by RPF

Now:

• Entire recruitment process will be conducted by SSC

• SSC will release the notification

• SSC will conduct the written examination

• Physical & medical tests will be conducted through a nodal force (RPF/CRPF, etc.)

Because the eligibility criteria now match SSC GD, it was expected that RPF vacancies might be included with SSC GD 2026, but this did not happen.

RPF Recruitment 2026 Notification Date (Expected)

SSC releases its official calendar every year.

• SSC New Calendar (2026–27) is expected around April–May 2026

• RPF Constable vacancy may appear in this calendar

Two Possible Scenarios

1. Separate RPF Vacancy

   • Notification: April–May 2026

   • Online forms start immediately

2. RPF with SSC GD

   • Notification: End of 2026

   • Exam conducted in 2027

   • Age calculated as on 1 January 2027

• Current SSC GD recruitment considers age as on 1 January 2026

Expected Vacancies in RPF 2026

• RPF Constable: 5,000 – 5,500 vacancies

• RPF SI: Around 800 vacancies

• Total: Approximately 6,000 vacancies

Due to fewer vacancies and high demand, competition will be extremely high.
