Hello everyone. Recently, I visited the official Aadhaar website (uidai.gov.in) and noticed an important update related to ordering the Aadhaar PVC card. Earlier, users could directly order the Aadhaar PVC card without logging in, even if their mobile number was not linked with Aadhaar. However, this option now seems to have been removed from the main website.
In this article, I will explain where the Aadhaar PVC card order option has gone, how you can order it now, and what problems users may face, especially children or users without a linked mobile number.
Step 1: Selecting Preferred Language and Opening the Aadhaar Website
First, I selected English as the preferred language on the UIDAI portal. After that, the official Aadhaar website opened successfully.
Earlier, on the homepage itself, there was a clear option called “Order Aadhaar PVC Card.”
Step 2: Aadhaar PVC Card Order Option Missing from Homepage
Now, when you click on the “Order Aadhaar PVC Card” option from the homepage:
- The page takes some time to load
- Sometimes an error appears
- And most importantly, the Order Aadhaar PVC Card option is no longer visible
Even after scrolling down the page, only the option “Check Aadhaar PVC Card Status” is shown.
Available Options on the Homepage:
- Check Aadhaar PVC Card Status
- Enrolment Status
- Aadhaar Deactivation Status
- Aadhaar Validity
- Appointment Booking
- Aadhaar Update
- Feedback Services
👉 But the “Order Aadhaar PVC Card” option is completely missing.
Step 3: Where Did the Aadhaar PVC Card Order Option Go?
To find the option, I logged in using my Aadhaar number.
After successful login, the “Order Aadhaar PVC Card” option appeared inside the dashboard.
This clearly indicates that UIDAI has restricted the Aadhaar PVC card ordering feature to logged-in users only.
Step 4: How to Order Aadhaar PVC Card After Login
Once logged in, follow these steps:
- Click on “Order Aadhaar PVC Card”
- Your personal details will be displayed
- You will see two options under Order Aadhaar PVC Card For:
- Self
- Others
Option 1: Self
- You can easily order your own Aadhaar PVC card
- No issues if your Aadhaar login is successful
Option 2: Others
- Select Others
- Enter:
- Aadhaar number of the other person
- Their mobile number
- Click Send OTP
- Enter OTP and proceed with the order
⚠️ Note: At the time of checking, the server seemed down, so OTP was not working. Otherwise, this method should work normally.
Important Clarification About Mobile Number Linking
Earlier, even if a mobile number was not linked with Aadhaar, users could order the Aadhaar PVC card using:
- Aadhaar number, or
- Enrolment ID (EID)
But now:
- There is no option to order Aadhaar PVC card using Enrolment ID
- OTP verification is mandatory
- Mobile number access is required
Major Problem for Children and First-Time Aadhaar Holders
This change creates a serious issue in cases such as:
- Children who recently enrolled for Aadhaar
- OTP SMS received during enrolment but later:
- Mobile number shows as not linked
- OTP is sent but not received
- Earlier, PVC card could be ordered using Enrolment ID
- Now that option is completely removed
👉 This makes it impossible for many users to order Aadhaar PVC cards.
